Jake & Cooper's Bark Park

Mission

Jake & Cooper’s Bark Park was founded in memory of Jacob and his beloved dog, Cooper, to carry forward their spirit of love, resilience, and connection. Our mission is to provide a welcoming off-leash park that fosters friendship, supports healing, and strengthens the community through the unconditional joy dogs bring.

INSIDE THE BARK PARK

  • Know your dog. Every dog plays differently — learn your dog’s style and watch for signs of stress or overstimulation.
  • Watch body language. Raised hackles, stiff posture, or intense staring can signal tension. Step in early if play gets too rough.
  • No mounting. Stop mounting or “humping” immediately to prevent conflicts.
  • Handle calmly. If your dog shows aggression, leash and remove them from the park for the day.
  • Find good playmates. Some dogs mix better with certain play styles — adjust visits as needed.
  • Dress for the mess! Expect dirt, slobber, and muddy paws — it’s all part of the fun.

APPROACHING THE BARK PARK

  • Keep your dog on leash until inside the double gate.
  • Close the first gate before opening the second to prevent dogs from running out.
  • Unleash your dog in the double-gate area before entering the park. Leashed dogs can feel anxious or defensive around off-leash dogs.
  • If you’re already inside the park, call your dog away from the gate when new arrivals enter.
This helps prevent crowding and reduces the chance of territorial behavior.
  • If others don’t call their dogs, politely ask them to or wait until the area is clear before entering.

Park Ettiqute

  • Give space at the gate. Call your dog away when others are entering or leaving.
  • Clean up after your dog. Use the waste bags provided or bring your own.
  • Stay alert. Know where your dog is and watch their interactions with others.
  • Monitor behavior. Barking is normal, but step in if play turns tense or aggressive.
  • Keep sick dogs home. No dogs with fleas, parasites, or illness.
  • Respect others. Don’t discipline someone else’s dog or approach dogs on leash without permission.
  • No food, treats, or toys. These can cause fights or jealousy.
  • Have fun! Enjoy our safe, state-of-the-art dog playground.
